YCT Writing Prep Lessons Level 4

  • Designed for kids who have a certain foundation in Chinese language learning. They can carry out relatively fluent oral communication and written expression, and can read some more complex articles. 
  • In our classes, we will cover topics such as: "How long have you beed learning Chinese?", "I have a cold", "How do you go to school everyday?",  "Why doesn't dad have a rest?",  "It grows really fast.", etc. Once we have covered the material to a certain extent, we will move on to mock and real test papers, focusing on intensive practice and identifying areas of weakness to help you achieve high marks on the test.
  • After completion of this level, kids will have learned about 600 commonly used vocabulary words and related advanced grammar knowledge. They can engage in more fluent and flexible oral communication and written expression, and can read some more complex literary works and news reports. Additionally, they will gain further knowledge about Chinese culture and history, increasing their understanding and awareness of Chinese civilization. 

I. Test Content

YCT Level 4 consists of 80 questions, divided into three parts: listening, reading, and writing.

The test lasts about 85 minutes (including 5 minutes for candidates to fill in their personal information).

1. Listening

Part I consists of 10 questions. Each question is played twice. Each question is a dialogue, and a picture is provided on the test paper. The candidate should judge whether it's correct or not based on what they hear.
Part II consists of 10 questions. Each question is played twice. Each question is three sentences, and a picture is provided on the test paper. The candidate should choose the sentence that matches the picture based on what they hear.
Part III consists of 10 questions. Each question is played twice. Each question is a dialogue, with a third person asking a question based on the dialogue. Three options are provided on the test paper, and the candidate should choose the answer based on what they hear.
Part IV consists of 10 questions. Each question is played twice. Each question is a short passage, with a sentence (including pinyin) provided on the test paper. The candidate should judge whether it's correct or not based on what they hear.

2. Reading

Part I consists of 5 questions. Each question provides a picture and three sentence options on the test paper. The candidate should choose the sentence that corresponds to the picture provided.
Part II consists of 10 questions. Twenty sentences are provided, with 10 in each group. The candidate should identify the corresponding relationship between them.
Part III consists of 10 questions. Each question provides a dialogue, with one blank in the dialogue. Three options are provided on the test paper, and the candidate should choose the correct word to fill in the blank.
Part IV consists of 5 questions. Each question provides a paragraph of text and a question. Three options are provided on the test paper, and the candidate should choose the answer based on what they read in the text.

3. Writing

Part I consists of 5 questions. Each question provides several words, and the candidate is required to compose a sentence using those words.
Part II consists of 5 questions. Each question provides a sentence with a blank space, and the candidate is required to write the correct Chinese character in the blank space.

II. Score Report

YCT scores are valid for a long period of time. The YCT Level 4 score report provides scores for listening, reading, writing, and total points. A total score of 180 is considered passing.
